Ms Shi earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Finance from University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire in the United States. She also achieved her Master’s degree in Applied Social Psychology from Royal Holloway, University of London in the UK. She researched Child Psychology and Positive Psychology which has helped her develop a passion for pursuing early years education. While she was in the US, she volunteered at the local Boys and Girls Club which assisted with organizing activities for children. Then she went to Romania to teach English and take care of children who had been orphaned. Her experience of studying and living in different countries has equipped her with the ability to understand children from different cultural backgrounds. Having participated in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Training at the Taiwan Mindfulness Center in Taiwan, she also hopes to bring Mindfulness into the early years.


As a psychological consultant, she is able to analyze and understand the reasons and motivations behind children’s behaviour at a deeper level. Since joining Huili Nursery Hangzhou, as the Wellbeing and Involvement Lead, Ms Shi has made outstanding contributions to improving the well-being of all teachers and students through her knowledge and practice of positive psychology and has provided a constant stream of practical data and subject research materials for a research project at KU Leuven, Belgium. Ms Shi is a positive and deliberate thinker who is able to bring the latest educational research findings into the learning and assessment of Huili Nursery, providing cutting-edge teaching and learning support for the whole school
