Tia has a Bachelor of arts in French and world religions, a Bachelor of education in French and ESL, and a Master’s in science in elementary education.
Tia Luker is a Canadian teacher with 12 years of teaching experience. She has taught in English, French, Korean, and Chinese communities, learning a lot about culture and language along the way. Teaching has given Tia many opportunities within teaching, as she has taught a wide variety of subject areas and age groups, moving from teaching French immersion in high school to finding a passion teaching science in elementary school.
These opportunities brought her to China, where she has been for the last five years. During this time, she has had the opportunity to grow science programs in new schools and develop professional training for teachers. She also developed a curriculum for a school-based charity that is now a nationwide integrated education program in Australia. Tia joined the staff at Wellington College International Shanghai in2017 and is teaching year 5 as well as leading the International Primary Curriculum in the Lower Prep. During her free time, she enjoys doing yoga, hiking, and being with family and friends.
